What is this job all about?

Although it sounds rather simple, this project will be very invasive as we remove the entire front of the church. We will then install structural steel columns and a new energy efficient window system, along with a larger vestibule.  If you have ever stood next to the existing wall, (BB shot holes & single pane glass), then you know how badly this energy upgrade is needed.

This renovation will save energy while providing a beautiful stained glass pictorial depicting the ascension of Christ, designed by The Rambusch Company http://www.rambusch.com/ .  Rambusch designed and built the stained glass that was installed behind the altar around 2002.

The stained glass will also be silently proclaiming part of the Good News to the hundreds of people that pass by the church each and every day, which is another example of the many ministries that are performed by Reformation now under the pastoral leadership of Matthew Cimorelli (Pastor Matt).

All of this was made possible by an anonymous donor and it will be appreciated by many generations after its completion.

It has officially started!

After receiving the completed construction drawings, then preparing a list of tasks with related sub-contractors and vendors, applying for and obtaining the building permits, and preparing a comprehensive schedule, the job actually got started on Saturday, January 29th.

Although it may not seem like a lot of work, this first phase is one of the most important. It involves the detailed measuring of the existing conditions. A shop drawing is being prepared by the survey team.  After it is reviewed it will be sent to the steel fabricator and the glass frame manufacturer.

The glass frame manufacturer is the J. Sussman Company that specializes in architectural aluminum windows for churches and other commercial institutions http://www.jsussmaninc.com . They will also prepare their own set of shop drawings that will allow the insulated glass panel manufacturer to make those panels.

More importantly, Rambusch Studio can then start to layout and build the stain glass panels. These take the most lead time and are the one element that could extend past the completion date.

Here is the design for the new project which depicts the ascension of Christ.
